picprep
picprep is a command-line utility for batch processing digital images. It allows for scaling by absolute
size, percentage of original size, changing the bitdepth, and changing the file format. Very useful for
shrinking all of the images off of your camera down to a manageable size while preserving your originals.

News:
- 10.20.2004 : version 1.1.0 for MAC OS X released :
I finished the Mac OS X version of picprep, about two weeks ago, but i've been too busy with other
things to get it posted any sooner. I'm pretty happy with this release, although I do have to admit
what I didn't know about programming in this environment has led to some inconsistencies in how
the commands are issues to the application on different platforms.
Anyways, here it is, my first public program that runs on multiple platforms ( natively ), compiled from
the same source tree!!.. Enjoy.
- 09.26.2004 : version 1.0.1 released :
I added the aspectRatio turn off feature to the application quite a while ago when I was bored one
evening but it was something that wasn't part of the original specification for the application so
i didn't mention it. However, while looking over a few of the "commercial/shareware" products that
are out there that do the same sorta thing, they listed it as a FEATURE. I never really thought of
it as a feature, but I thought I might as well document it.
I've begun porting the application to OS-X, i don't anticipate a long delay in getting the OS-X release
out into the public's hands, however, the intent here is to build both applications from a single
source tree so chance are pretty good that there will be a "no new features added" release in the near
future for the win32 version of the application that will coincide with the OS-X release. I will most
likely be bumping up the Version to a 1.1.x so that the individual version can start out with the same
version numbers.
- 09.19.2004 : version 1.0.0 released.
Well all the beta-testers reported that the application worked according to documentation and expectations so we're gonna go ahead and release version 1.0.0. It's here and it's ready for your batch processing needs. Good luck and enjoy!
- 09.18.2004 : version 0.9.0 released.
After giving this application to some friends they informed me of all sorts of memory leaks. On top of which everyone is using it a little bit differently and not getting consistent results so this is a step towards fixing these problems and getting to a 1.0 release. This is still a development release there are some funny messages that come out while processing images, these will go away as we head towards our 1.0.0 release. Coming soon!
